Our desire is to design a playground with all abilities in mind so that all children and members of the community can experience peer to peer interaction, engagement, and play. Inclusive playgrounds allow for those with orthopedic impairments and those who are neurodivergent to play alongside their typically abled peers so that no child is left on the sideline or unable to engage with the group. A good inclusion park design considers all abilities including learning disabilities, speech or language impairment, autism, developmental delay, intellectual disability, emotional disturbance, hearing impairment, orthopedic impairment, and visual impairment. It is our mission to provide a multisensory experience which helps to encourage play and stimulate the brain.
It is our mission to build a playground that:
Creates a Welcoming Social Environment
- Children like to engage in play in different ways.
- We aim to support different types of play including solitary play, onlooker play, parallel play, associative play, and cooperative play.
Encourages All to Play
- We want children of all ages and abilities to be able to play together
- This playground design will provide a graduated range of challenge, offer equipment for multiple age groups, and ensure real options of play for every child.
Provides a Multisensory Play Experience
- Sensory experiences help all kids explore their world and develop motor skills, physical strength and cognitive functioning
- Provide support for children on the autism spectrum
